Do The Damn Thing!

Ever have your mind swirl with all of the what if's and some days? You know, "what if I was in the right place at the right time" or "some day when I have more time I will..." Through many let downs and getting pulled into situations that really don't require my time and attention I've begun to learn the right time is NOW and some day is TODAY!

Two years ago after a leg injury, two metal plates and about two dozen screws to put my bones back together I wondered if I would be able to go on the adventure's that give my soul life.

As much as I plan for moments that take my breath away, I've learned that seizing the opportunity when you have it even if it's not planned can be even more amazing and memorable!

Today, I found myself with an opportunity for what Julia Cameron author of The Artists Way calls taking yourself on a date. A great book and resource by the way! I took her advice and drove toward the sun and found a new ocean park to explore. I walked out on the rocks and gazed in awe at the powerful waves crashing into the jagged rocks. I then made my way a bit further south to the Cape Perpetua Lookout. As families discussed their hiking plans and couples held hands and kissed with the ocean as their backdrop, I explored with confidence. The fresh, salty air gave me energy and I zig zagged down narrow trails to be rewarded with a breathtaking view.

In this moment I could see miles and miles of ocean and was reminded that the adventures I've dreamed of are right in front of me. If I stop, look around, and do the damn thing I will be living exactly how I am meant to.
