Hey mama, what’s up dad! You’re doing a great job raising humans who are growing up and preparing to go out there and crush it in the real world. That’s what we want right? Oh, but that means that they have dreams of their own and are their own person who pushes back, challenges us, and prepares us for their departure from our safe world that we have spent years making sacrifices to create a thriving life for them. What if I’m not ready for that? It’s scary. Guess what, you’re not the only one who feels that way.
I’m just a mom of big kids (20 & 17) who happens to have a lot of experience with mindset and transitions people go through in life. Through my 24-year career leading a non-profit organization, I’ve gained helpful skills and tips that can provide insight to you in times of struggle, change, and transition.
As a parent, I believe our job is to set up our kids to be successful adults who thrive in their passions. Our nest is safe and controlled when they are babies and through each phase of development they venture out and we begin to trust our children with their own life path to the point of flying solo, out on their own.
In this space, I will discuss my own journey through preparing for my big kids to transition from high school into the new chapter of their life and how we, as parents, can find the balance of supporting them and grappling with the emotions we feel through that transition.
Together we can support them and ourselves to soar through transitions and celebrate the journey ahead. I'd love to hear your questions and suggestions for topics to discuss. Please comment and join in on this community that is Ready to Soar!
